Scouting Report

SIZE:
Carter has good size for a 2019 Dual Threat QB at 6’0” 185 lbs. He throws with a tall platform, able to survey the entire field. A strong running QB who does a very good job navigating through the defense. Plays well above the competition as he controls the pace of the game with his competitive nature.
ACCURACY:
Carter throws are made in-line with his receivers, showing good timing and ball placement. Very good throwing mechanics and footwork prior to setup. He threw for a 68% completion rate last season.
ARM STRENGTH:
His intermediate throws are made with a strong release and high velocity. His throws pierce the secondary, making plays within tight areas of space. Solid vertical passing game while dropping bombs over the secondary.
RELEASE:
Carter throws with an over the top delivery with a full extension, allowing for the ball to rise upon release. He gets the ball over in a hurry. Solid footwork prior to set up.
THROW ON RUN:
A very athletic QB who can get to the outside quickly with solid footwork and mobility. Strong forward momentum upon his release.
FOOTWORK:
Good agility in and out of the pocket, good lateral swing in either direction. He’s a Dual Threat QB who can take off at any moment with his playmaking ability.
POISE:
He shows good awareness of the defensive pressure. Able to avoid the rush while maintaining his focus on the play.
POCKET PRESENCE:
He does a nice job working between a Pro Style QB and a Dual Threat. Good patience as he waits for the play to develop.Very good at working through his progressions, going down from his primary targets onto his secondary outlets. Throws made with good ball placement.
TOUCH:
This is an area of strength for Carter. He's able to make the right adjustments to the velocity of his throws, adding a softer release when needed. Solid trajectory on his deep passes, with just enough air underneath.
