SIZE:
Matt has excellent size for a 2021 Pro Style QB at 6’2” 204 lbs. He stands in the pocket with a tall platform, able to oversee the entire field. He throws with a full extension, giving his passes added height. A very good manager of the game.
ACCURACY:
He shows good accuracy whether in the pocket or on the run, with solid throwing mechanics in a consistent basis. Solid footwork prior to set up.
ARM STRENGTH:
He can attack a defense in many ways, whether it comes from a quick strike over the middle or a deep vertical throw over coverage. Good strength in arm with high velocity throws.
RELEASE:
An over the top passer with a fully extended arm motion. He’s fundamentally sound. An over the top delivery with a full arm extension. Very good foot placement and stride on his set up.
THROW ON RUN:
Matt shows good athleticism while on the run. Able to get to the outside quickly, as he squares up with good body rotation. Doesn’t lose much in accuracy while on the run.
FOOTWORK:
Not labeled as a Dual Threat QB but can pick up yardage for short gains if needed. Displays very good footwork on his drop backs and set ups.
POISE:
He shows good awareness of defensive pressure, able to step up or move laterally for added space. Very calm under pressure, stays focused on the play as he guides it through.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Matt seems very comfortable within the pocket. Able to survey the field for potential targets. Good agility in and out of the pocket.
DECISION MAKING:
He works methodically as he seeks out opportunities downfield. A quick timer inside of his head, able to get the ball off quickly with good judgment.
TOUCH:
This is an area of strength for Matt. His throws are made with a soft touch, able to adjust the velocity of his throws in certain passing situation.
