SIZE:
Athan has excellent size for a 2021 Pro Style QB at 6'4" 190 lbs. He's got all of the right tools to become an elite QB prospect, and it starts with size. At 6'3" he's able to survey to field with excellent vision. Throws with a fully extended delivery, allowing for added height to his throws. Good elusiveness in the backfield, able to set up with added space.
ACCURACY:
This is a strength area for Athan, his throwing mechanics and footwork remain consistent whether he’s set in the pocket or on the run. Throwing at a 64% comp. rate this past season. Sharp throws made with precision over the middle, showing good timing and ball placement. Gets the ball to his receivers in a hurry.
ARM STRENGTH:
Athan is a strong armed QB, able to hit in any area of the field. He can fire it into tight windows of space of zone coverage or open it up with his vertical passing game.
RELEASE:
Very sound throwing mechanics, a high release which comes across over the top with a fully extended arm motion. Very good footwork prior to his set up, good spacing and balance.
THROW ON RUN:
Athan can be dangerous while on the run, displaying excellent vision and fire power. His throws are on time and on target with strong forward momentum. Gets to the outside in a hurry with his long stride, while letting it rip.
FOOTWORK:
Displays very good athleticism on the field, able to do just about anything. A playmaker who can improvise while on the go. Good burst of speed into the secondary.
POISE:
Did a great job leading his team this past season to a 11-1, conference champs. Shows good control of his offensive unit while leading them down the field. A very confident QB who trusts in his abilities. Not distracted by the noise around him.
POCKET PRESENCE:
He’s skilled at moving around in the backfield, able to create space for himself. He’s dangerous while on the run, many weapons in his arsenal.
DECISION MAKING:
Very good at going through his throwing progressions, from primary targets to secondary outlets. An intelligent QB who understands the game.
TOUCH:
This is an area of strength for Athan. He can fire it in with high velocity throws or ease off a bit to include a softer release when needed. Able to soft toss the ball over zone coverage at the intermediate range.
