SIZE:
Austin has excellent size for a 2023 Pro Style QB at 6’3” 185 lbs. Had a breakout season, showing off his skills and ability to take over a game. A tall lengthy QB who'll be able to add bulk to his frame these next couple years. With his size comes a full throttle arm motion from way back. Excellent range with a dangerous vertical passing game.
ACCURACY:
This is an area of skill for Austin. He’s able to make throws within the secondary that are right on the mark with his receivers. Does a nice job leading the receivers with excellent good ball placement and timing.
ARM STRENGTH:
His throws over the middle are on a rope, with high velocity and quick release. Able to extend the field with a strong arm, leading his receivers in stride.
RELEASE:
He throws the ball with a classic over the top delivery with full arm extension.
THROW ON RUN:
Very comfortable in the backfield, whether its as a pocket passer or rolling out on the run. Good positioning of the ball and solid footwork. Squares up with his intended target.
FOOTWORK:
He’s an athletic QB who displays good movement and agility within the pocket. Well balanced stride on his dropbacks. Solid platform prior to his delivery.
POISE:
Full control of his offensive unit. He does a nice job picking up defensive pressure while developing a secondary plan. Very aggressive, seeking out big play opportunities downfield.
POCKET PRESENCE:
He displays good patience and awareness in and around the pocket. Very good lateral movement, able to escape the pressure and create something on his own. A playmaker who can improvise on the fly.
DECISION MAKING:
Austin's a very intelligent QB with quick reads, attacking the defense with quick hitters. Does a nice job working through his progressions.
TOUCH:
This is an area of strength. He can be a finesse passer when needed or can turn up the dial with high velocity throws in the heart of the defense.
