SIZE:
Brooks has good size for a 2023 Dual Threat QB at 5’11” 160 lbs. He’s able to create open passing lanes by working his way around traffic. Throws with a high release point, adding extra height to his passes.
ACCURACY:
His throws are made with sharp precision, able to pick apart a defense which gets caught sleeping. Excellent ball location. Good timing and anticipation of his receivers routes. Loses a bit while on the go.
ARM STRENGTH:
Able to hit in all areas of the field. Brooks shows the ability to stretch the field with his vertical passing or can fire it into the secondary with high velocity at short and intermediate range.
RELEASE:
Very good throwing mechanics, able to maintain consistent arm motion. He throws with an over the top delivery and fully extended arm motion. Solid footwork during setup and dropback.
THROW ON RUN:
Get this QB on the run and it spells trouble for the defense. A playmaker on the field. He works best when on the run.
FOOTWORK:
Displays very good athleticism. Good quickness and speed. Sets up nicely in the pocket with proper spacing and rhythm.
POISE:
He’s a confident QB who trusts in his abilities as a leader. He shows good patience while waiting for a play to develop. Varsity game experience as a Freshman.
DECISION MAKING:
An intelligent QB. Very good at working through his progressions, going from his primary targets on down to his secondary outlets.
TOUCH:
Able to take something off the velocity of his throws to create a softer touch. Does a good job working the ball in between zone coverage.
