Scouting Report

SIZE:
CJ has excellent size for a 2020 Dual Threat QB at 6’2” 197 lbs. He played at the varsity level last season as only a Freshman. A tall presence in the backfield, able to survey the entire field with his height and vision. Able to get the ball up with good height, his follow through includes a fully extended release.
ACCURACY:
When given the time and space to to set up, CJ is very accurate. He nails it at the short and intermediate range with sharp passing. His deep passes could include a tighter trajectory.
ARM STRENGTH:
CJ has many weapons to his arsenal. He’s able to fire in high velocity throws into tight windows of space or he can ease up for a softer delivery. Able to generate momentum with a full extension, giving his throws longer range.
THROW ON RUN:
CJ’s displays excellent mobility getting to the outside of the pocket. He has a quick first step and along his long stride, can get there in a hurry. Excellent vision downfield. Squares up nicely with his receivers.
FOOTWORK:
A very athletic QB with his size can result in a very deadly combination. He displays very good quickness and speed while on the run, picking up chunks of yardage with his longer stride.
POISE:
Learned a lot this past season, serving as a varsity QB. He dominated at the JV level. This season, expect him to serve as a leader at the varsity level with greater confidence and ability. He’s got what it takes to become an elite QB.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Very good agility within the pocket. A good sense of the space around him with the ability to avoid traffic and improvise while on the run.
DECISION MAKING:
CJ’s a very intelligent QB who understands the game. He does an excellent job going through his progressions.
TOUCH:
This is an area of strength for CJ, he works best when having to adjust the velocity of his throws. A sweet touch pass on fade routes and can also sneak one in between zone coverage. Solid trajectory on his deep passes.
