Clay has excellent size for a 2030 Pro Style QB at 5'7" 135 lbs. He’s a pure pocket passer, who stands in with a tall platform and very good vision. A durable QB in the pocket with overall body strength.
ACCURACY:
This is an area of strength for Clay. His throws are in-line with his receivers with good timing and ball placement. He can pick apart a defense with his ability to spot an opening within zone coverage.
ARM STRENGTH:
Very impressed with his arm strength, he can sling the rock into tight coverage with high velocity throws or take it deep over the top. Capable of extending the field with his vertical game.
RELEASE:
Consistent throwing motion which leads to his accuracy. An over the top passer with a fully extended arm motion.
THROW ON RUN:
Most comfortable in the pocket but can also work to the outside with athleticism. Squares up to his receivers.
FOOTWORK:
Good lateral mobility while creating added space for himself. Can work to add quickness in step. Well balanced stride on his dropbacks.
POISE:
Calm under pressure, showing good patience. With more game reps, Clay will continue to add confidence in his play.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Good read on pressure, while getting the ball off quickly.
DECISION MAKING:
His accuracy is helped by his ability to locate his best option receiver, making the right call while hitting the mark quickly. Very good at working through his progressions.
TOUCH:
A strong armed QB who can take something off velocity for a softer toss when needed.
