SIZE:
Dontrell has very good size for a 2022 Dual Threat QB at 6'0" 183 lbs. He’s a playmaker on the field, able to take over a game with his athletic ability. A strong running QB with good lower body strength and agility. Throws the ball with a high release point, for added height.
ACCURACY:
His throws are right on the mark, hitting his receivers while in stride. Able to work within tight areas of space, making the adjustments on the angle of his delivery. Shows solid ball placement and touch.
ARM STRENGTH:
Dontrell can hit in all areas of the field with strong throws. His short and intermediate throws include high velocity passes that pierces through zone coverage. Able to stretch the defense with his vertical game, opening up opportunities at closer range.
RELEASE:
Very good throwing mechanics which are well balanced and consistent. He throws with an over the top, three quarter extended arm motion. He’s able to generate increased momentum throughout his motion, creating stronger velocity.
THROW ON RUN:
He’s a pure Dual Threat, able to work inside as a pocket passer or get to the outside to deliver a strike. Displays very good mobility and quickness on the go, while surveying the field.
FOOTWORK:
A quick footed QB who can get through the secondary in a hurry. Accelerated speed out in the open field, able to create separation.
POISE:
He’s very confident in his abilities as a QB and shows calm while in pressured situations.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Good awareness of defensive pressure, able to set up in the pocket or break out to create added space for himself. Very agile QB, who does a nice job while in traffic.
DECISION MAKING:
Dontrell works the entire field, seeking out big play opportunities. He’s very deadly while on the go, with the ability to improvise. Much improved with his patience in the pocket, waiting for the play to develop before taking it in for a run.
TOUCH:
Solid trajectory on his deep passes, with just enough air underneath. Added a softer touch this past season on his throws at shorter range.
