SIZE:
Luca has good size for a 2022 Pro Style QB at 5'11" 180 lbs. He’s a pure pocket passer, able to sit in the pocket with a tall platform and excellent vision. Should be able to add to his size over these next few years as he prepares for the collegiate level.
ACCURACY:
This is an area of strength for Luca. His throws are in-line with his receivers with excellent timing and ball placement. He can pick apart a defense with his ability to spot opening within zone coverage.So far this season, he's at a 70% completion rate.
ARM STRENGTH:
Very impressed with his arm strength, he can sling the rock into tight coverage with high velocity releases or take it deep over the top, extending the field with his vertical game.
RELEASE:
Luca has perfect throwing technique which leads to his very good accuracy. An over the top passer with a highly extended arm release.
THROW ON RUN:
He’s quick to the outside, leading with ball in hand as he seeks out potential targets. Good body rotation as he squares up to his receivers.
FOOTWORK:
Displays good lateral movement while creating additional space for himself. Very good footwork on his drop backs but sets up quite nicely with good balance and stride.
POISE:
This is another area of strength for Luca, he’s very calm under pressure, showing good patience. A confident QB who trusts in his abilities. And to think, he's only a Freshman.
POCKET PRESENCE:
He’s got a good read on defensive pressure, able to get the ball off quickly.
DECISION MAKING:
Luca's accuracy is helped by his ability to locate his best option receiver, making the right call and hitting the mark quickly.
TOUCH:
A strong armed QB who can take something off the velocity of his throws for a softer toss. Tight trajectory on long range throws.
