SIZE:
Matthew has good size for a 2024 Pro Style QB at 5'10" 160 lbs. Among the most polished '24 QB's I've seen on film. Don't focus on his size, his play on the field should not go unnoticed. His footwork in the pocket is fluid and smooth. Moving effortlessly from space to space. Strong throws downfield.
ACCURACY:
Throws with perfect touch, hitting in all areas of the field. Delivers a very catchable ball, one made with tight rotational spin. Showing good anticipation and timing of his receivers routes.
ARM STRENGTH:
His throws are on a rope with high veloicty. Piercing the defense with sharp precision. Dangerous vertical passing game, virtually unstoppbale.
RELEASE:
The ball gets off quickly with increased acceleration. Sound throwing mechanics. Excellent footing prior to delivery.
THROW ON RUN:
Displays very good quickness getting to the outside, maintaining his focus downfield. Squares up with strong forward momentum.
FOOTWORK:
This is his best attribute which leads to everything else. As a result of his body awareness, he's able to get in place with minimal steps and variation in movement. Good speed and quickness out in the open field with elusiveness.
POISE
Demonstrates the ability to lead his team downfield with quick strikes. Always in attack mode, difficult to defend.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Very good at picking up on pressure while making space for himself within the pocket. Able to step up in the pocket, or roll to either side as he surveys the field for potential targets.
DECISION MAKING:
Matthew has good patience as he waits for the play to develop. He’s able to pick apart a defense with soft tosses that work just over coverage.
TOUCH:
A major area of strength. He’s able to make plays within the secondary that are made with a soft release and tight trajectory. Has a knack for finding gaps within coverage.
