SIZE:
Jake has very good size for a 2019 Pro Style QB at 6’3” 165 lbs. He works well within the pocket, displaying excellent visibility and range. He should be able to add bulk to his frame over the next year as he prepares to enter college.
ACCURACY:
This is one of Jake's strengths, his throws are in-line with his receivers routes with excellent ball placement. Good anticipation and timing of his receivers routes. Allows for his receivers to make a play on the ball.
ARM STRENGTH:
He gets the ball to his receivers in a hurry. Able to make all of the required throws with good velocity. His vertical game is solid, able to stretch the field with deep passes over the secondary.
RELEASE:
Jake has a side arm delivery similar to Tony Romo and Philip Rivers. This allows him to adjust the angle of his delivery, getting the ball around defenders while working within tight spaces. Throws with a fully extended arm motion.
THROW ON RUN:
Shows good athleticism while getting to the outside. Able to square up with his receivers, while hitting his targets on the go.
FOOTWORK:
He’s a long stride running QB who can pick up yards in a hurry. Shows good mobility and balance while on the run. Can work to improve on his drop backs and in pocket lateral movement.
POISE:
Jake's a proven winner who does a great job leading his offensive unit down the field. He's able to to pick up on defensive pressure, while avoiding the rush.Does a nice job stepping up in the pocket when its collapsed. Shows movement within the backfield, able to create added space for himself.
DECISION MAKING:
This is another area of strength for Jake, he’s able to work through his progressions, going from his primary, on down to his secondary outlets. Very decisive with his throws.
TOUCH:
He’s able to take off something on his short and intermediate throws, creating a softer touch. His deep passes include a tight trajectory, allowing just enough air underneath.
