SIZE:
Austin has excellent size for a 2021 Pro Style QB at 6’1” 187 lbs. He throws with a tall platform in the backfield, able to survey the entire field. Shows good patience as he waits for the play to develop, willing to take the hit. High release point, giving his ball added height.
ACCURACY:
His throws are in-line with his receivers, able to make plays with tight rotation of the ball. Shows good anticipation of receivers pass routes along with timing and placement.
ARM STRENGTH:
Austin's a strong throwing QB who can reach all areas of the field. High velocity throws made at the short and intermediate range. Able to stretch the defense with his vertical passing game.
RELEASE:
Throws with an over the top delivery, with a fully extended arm motion. Excellent throwing mechanics which are consistent during every passing play.
THROW ON RUN:
Gets to the outside in a hurry, able to lock down on his target, while delivering a strike. Strong forward momentum with as he pivots towards the direction of his receiver.
FOOTWORK:
A very agile QB who can serve as a running QB in short yard situations. A quick first step out of the box, with a balanced stride.
POISE:
He shows confidence in his abilities as a QB, very comfortable in the pocket. Great experience this season serving as the Varsity starter.
POCKET PRESENCE:
He does a nice job picking up defensive pressure, while moving away from the pressure. Very relaxed in the pocket, not easily distracted by the noise around him.
DECISION MAKING:
Austin does a very good job working through his progressions, working with his primary targets, then moving onto his secondary outlets. Shows good intelligence on the field able to think quickly while on the go.
TOUCH:
A strong throwing QB who does a nice job taking something off his velocity on the deeper passes. Can work to add a softer delivery at short and intermediate range. The trajectory on his deep passes include just enough air underneath.
