Gerald has very good size for a 2019 Dual Threat QB at 6’2” 195 lbs. A tall throwing platform, including a high release point, which gives a rise to the ball. Shows good toughness on the run, willing to take on would-be tacklers. Should be able to add bulk to his frame over the next year.
His throws are in-line with his targets with good ball placement, accuracy and timing. Whether his passes are made at the short or long range, Gerald doesn’t lose much on accuracy despite the distance. Threw for a 60% completion percentage last season, looking to improve on that next year.
A strong armed QB who can fire it into the secondary with high velocity. His vertical passing game is solid, able to reach beyond defensive coverage. Delivers darts throughout the defense in between tight windows of space.
He releases the ball with an over the top delivery and fully extended arm motion. This gives his throws added height. His motion is smooth and consistent.
THROW ON RUN:
Gerald is most comfortable as a pocket passer but can also serve as a dual threat when needed. He displays good mobility as he moves to the outside of the pocket, getting his feet in front of him as he squares up to his target.
Very good speed and quickness into the secondary, with the ability to elude would-be tacklers. He’s very dangerous to opposing defenses because of his ability to serve as a potential dual threat while on the go. Excellent footwork on his dropbacks and set ups.
Gerald controls the pace of a game as he works his way downfield. He's very confident in his abilities to lead his team, serving as the team captain this past season.
He’s very difficult to contain within the pocket. Displaying very good agility and mobility. Able to step up in the pocket or roll out for added space.
An intelligent QB who understands the game. Gerald does a nice job working through his progressions, going from his primary targets, down to his secondary outlets.
I was very impressed in his ability to adjust the velocity of his throws. From his soft release on the fade routes, to his laser strikes over the middle.
