Spinning the ball around California’s Trinity League yards has a way of putting a stamp of approval on rising prospects. At Orange Lutheran, next level scouts are already liking what they are seeing from 2026 recruit Alex Medyn. The freshman took varsity snaps last season prompting four offers from D-I programs and is battling with four-star 2025 QB TJ Lateef to run the Lancers’ offense this fall.

The Lancers’ offense is perfect for quarterbacks wanting to show off their skills for collegiate coordinators.

“We are an Air Raid offense,” Medyn said. “We run lots of spread sets and some tight end sets. OLU is the perfect place for a quarterback, we throw the majority of the game.”

Work is being put into the game this spring.

“This offseason, I am working on getting more comfortable with pocket presence, and moving quicker in tight spaces,” Medyn stated.

Asked where he is seeing the improvements, Medyn replied, “Definitely in my feet, they have gotten a lot better compared to last season. I was slow, I am lighter and more mobile now.”

Texas A&M, Arizona State, Colorado State and UNLV have seen enough to put out offers with Notre Dame and San Diego State showing heavier interest. Two of the offering teams have welcomed Medyn to campus.

“I took a trip to Arizona State a couple of weekends ago, that went really well,” Medyn stated. “I also visited UNLV a little while ago back during the season.”

While in Tempe, Medyn was able to watch the Sun Devils in action.

“I got to sit in on a meeting, did the photo shoot, and watched practice,” Medyn said. “I got quality time with coach (Beau) Baldwin (OC/QB) and coach (Kenny) Dillingham.”

The time with the Rebels was short, but informative.

“That was more of a quick one,” Medyn stated. “I went for a game and toured the campus. I wasn’t able to sit in on any meetings.”

A return to Tempe is lining up along with trips into ACC and SEC territories.

“I am going in May back to ASU,” Medyn shared. “As of right now, I have no other visits set. I might go to Texas A&M, I really want to get out there, and I might be going to Florida State.”

The time in Tallahassee could include a Seminoles’ mega camp. Medyn is also planning to spin it at SMU’s and TCU’s mega camps this summer.
