SIZE:
Derrick has excellent size for a 2027 Pro Style QB at 6’1” 210 lbs. He works methodically, attacking the defense at every level. Virtually unstoppable, making strong throws with a quick release. Stands tall in the pocket while displaying excellent vision downfield. An agile QB who’s difficult to take down because of his size and athleticism. Has all of the skills to become an elite QB, among the top '27 collegiate recruits in the country.
ACCURACY:
This is an area of strength for Derrick. His arm motion is very consistent, allowing for throws to be made in-line with his receivers. Excellent decision making skills as he works to seek out his best option receivers with good timing and ball placement.
ARM STRENGTH:
He can light it up to anywhere on the field. His throws are made of high velocity, getting the ball to his receivers in a hurry. Legit vertical passing game, able to extend the field with bombs made over coverage.
RELEASE:
Derrick throws with a fully extended arm motion. Its comes from up over the top with a high release point. He shows solid footwork getting to his setup, well balanced stride.
THROW ON RUN:
He can hurt you with his arm or his legs while on the run. Good vision downfield as he works to the outside. Strong forward momentum upon his delivery.A super athletic QB who’s very mobile, whether he’s in the pocket or out in the open field. Very good lateral movement with a quick first step.
POISE:
His confidence level is through the roof. Trusts in his abilities to lead his team downfield. Plays the game with controlled aggressiveness.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Very good mobility in and around the pocket. He’s able to feel the pressure around him as he works in and out of traffic. Good patience as he waits for the play to develop.
DECISION MAKING:
This is a major area of strength of Derrick, he’s very skilled at picking up on open receivers. Works well through his progressions, working from his primary to secondary outlets.
TOUCH:
Another area of strength is his ability to make the right adjustments on the velocity of his throws, adding a softer release. Able to get the ball in between zone coverage.
