SIZE:
Ely has excellent size for a 2026 Pro Style QB at 6’5” 208 lbs. College ready size with still a couple years to add bulk onto his frame. Very difficult to take down in the backfield, with lower body strength. A strong throwing QB who gets the ball to his target in a hurry.
ACCURACY:
He’s on the mark with his throws. Sets up in the pocket ready to fire it in. Sound throwing mechanics which are consistent at every level. Good anticipation of his receivers routes. Excellent ball location.
ARM STRENGTH:
This is his best attribute. Ely's a strong throwing QB who can light it up with throws made of high velocity. Generates increased momentum through his arm motion. Dangerous vertical passing game which spells trouble for opposing defenses. With size, comes a rocket of an arm. No distance is untouchable.
THROW ON RUN:
He's most comfortable as a pocket passer. He works to the outside with good mobility. Works best in the pocket, where he can tear apart a defense with his vision, strength and accuracy.
FOOTWORK:
Solid footwork on his dropbacks as well as his set ups. An athletic QB who displays good agility for his size.
POISE:
Very calm while in the pocket while working through his progressions patiently. Good feel of incoming pressure, able to side step for added space.
POCKET PRESENCE:
A tall presence in the pocket, able to see clearly over the line of scrimmage. He can hit in any area of the field with strength of arm.
DECISION MAKING:
Very intelligent QB who works well through his progressions. Does a nice job seeking out his primary target while releasing the ball without hesitation.
TOUCH:
This is another area of strength. For a QB of Ely's size, he’s very good at adding a soft touch to his delivery, especially at longer distance. He can lay a soft toss in between zone coverage or fire it in with high velocity.
