SIZE:
Lawson has excellent size for a 2023 Pro Style QB at 6’4” 220 lbs. He has college ready size with still a couple more years to develop into his frame. Very good durability with lower body strength. His throws include a high release point, adding more lift to his throws.
ACCURACY:
He’s on the mark with his throws, allowing for his receivers to make a play on the ball. Displays good throwing mechanics which remain consistent. Good anticipation of receivers routes.
ARM STRENGTH:
He can make all of the throws required of him with good range. Good rotation on the ball, creating a tight spiral. With his long arm extension, Lawson's able to go long over coverage.
THROW ON RUN:
Most comfortable as a pocket passer but can also take it outside with good mobility.
FOOTWORK:
Very good footwork on his dropbacks as well as his set ups. An athletic QB who shows good mobility for his size.
POISE:
He’s very calm while in the pocket, waiting for his receivers breaks. Shows confidence in his ability to lead his team downfield. Good feel of defensive pressure, able to side step for added space.
POCKET PRESENCE:
A tall presence in the backfield, able to see clearly over the line of scrimmage. He can hit in any area of the field.
DECISION MAKING:
Does a nice job seeking out his initial targets.
TOUCH:
This is an area of strength for Lawson. For a QB of his size, he’s very good at adding a soft release on his throws. He can lay a soft toss in between zone coverage, or fire it in with high velocity.
