SIZE:
Payton has very good size for a 2026 Pro Style QB at 6’3” 210 lbs. This QB continues to get better week by week. He stands out on the field because of size. A strong built, serving as a durable QB in the pocket. With size comes a strong arm, extending the field.
ACCURACY:
His throws are in-line with his receivers, displaying a tight spiral and catchable ball. Continues to work on his mechanics. His completion rate will be much higher next season. Watch for it.
ARM STRENGTH:
This is one of his strengths, his ability to make throws with high velocity, getting to his receivers in a hurry. Makes long distance throws with ease, extending coverage.
RELEASE:
Payton has perfected his delivery. An over the top delivery with an arm motion at full extension.
THROW ON RUN:
As he continues to work on his footwork, he'll be able to add an outside passing game into his arsenal. Good quickness out in the open, squaring up with his target.
FOOTWORK:
This will be an area of improvement. Not considered a Dual Threat but could be useful with the ability to pick up yardage on short gain opportunities.
POISE:
He’s confident in his abilities as a QB, shows good patience, waiting for his receivers' breaks. He’s a leader on the field as he guides his offensive unit.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Gets the ball off in a hurry. Would like to see him quicken his steps with fluid mobility.
DECISION MAKING:
Able to assess the defense while connecting with his best option receiver. Will add to his game by being able to work through his progressions.
TOUCH:
Skilled at working the ball just over coverage and in the hands of his receiver.
