SIZE:
Van has excellent size for a 2024 Pro Style QB at 6’3” 205 lbs. He stands out from the other players on the field because of his size. A tall presence in the backfield, able to survey the field with very good vision. A tough running QB who takes on would-be tacklers.
ACCURACY:
He throws a very catchable ball with good placement. He gives his receivers the ability to make a play on the ball. Can add to his accuracy getting his feet set prior to set up.
ARM STRENGTH:
Very good arm strength, able to squeeze the ball within tight windows of space. Gets the ball to his receivers in a hurry with strong velocity.
RELEASE:
Van has an over the top delivery with a fully extended arm motion. Able to generate strong momentum upon release. With his size and strength, Van's able to extend the field with an effective vertical passing game.
THROW ON RUN:
Displays good mobility while out in the open field. Very good vision downfield with the ability to seek out big play opportunities.
FOOTWORK:
For a QB of his size, Van displays very good footwork. Able to work the entire backfield. A strong running QB who who takes on would be tacklers. Good elusiveness for his size.
POISE:
He works well with his offensive unit, using all of his receivers. Shows very good patience in the pocket while waiting for a play to develop.
POCKET PRESENCE:
Displays a good sense of the space around him, able to move around traffic, while creating added space for himself.
DECISION MAKING:
Very impressed in his ability to work through his progressions. This is his best QB attribute. Shows good patience and vision downfield.
TOUCH:
Good touch at short and intermediate range. Can work to tighten up on trajectory at longer distances.
